Don Best vs G&J Live Odds
Real-Time Odds: Live Betting Odds for - NFL, NBA, NCAAF, NCAAB, MLB, NHL, Soccer, NASCAR, Other Sports (Golf, Tennis, Boxing, UFC, MMA, etc)
SportsOptions
SportsOptions offers odds from a wide range of Offshore Sportsbooks as well as Vegas Sportsbooks. Their odds are advertised to be in Real-Time, with the exception of BetCris and Grande. Their software platform is JAVA which has a reputation of being a memory hog. Their odds changes are probably the slowest and least accurate when compared to other services such as GJUpdate and Don Best.
G&J Live Odds
With the exception of BetCRIS and Grande (who is rumored to own Don Best Sports), G&J Update has direct access to sportsbook odds feeds. Because of its newer techonology in both hardware and software, G&J Update clocks the fastest odds changes from most of the sportsbooks.
Live Score Updates:
SportsOptions
SportsOptions uses 1 or 2 score providers as well as having a small sports department to manually enter scores. Their scores seem to be very accurate and fast. Every once in awhile you will catch some scoring mistakes but that is probably due to their live score providers.
G&J Live Odds
G&J Live Odds utilizes multiple score providers as well as having a staff to control the quality and speed of scoring updates. G&J Live Odds is very fast going into, and coming out of, halftimes. When comparing the other services such as Don Best and SportsOptions there really isnt a noticable difference when it comes to scores because it is likely that they use the same live score providers.
Injury Alerts: Speed AND Accuracy
SportsOptions
SportsOptions has tried to build their reputation around their sports injuries. They started out great, but have left something to be desired lately. I think SportsOptions focuses on speed over accuracy and it is not uncommon to see them send out the same injury multiple times per day with conflicting statuses. I have also heard complaints that they send out far too many injury popups during the day and its distracts away from the betting odds during the busy time.
G&J Live Odds
G&J Live Odds has built a vast network of injury information resources to ensure that their Injury Information is not only fast, but accurate as well. G&J Update understands the importance of having accurate injury information. G&J Update tries to keep the pop-up distractions to a minimum, but will always alert you of important line-changing information
Public Betting Percentages: See where the money is going
SportsOptions
SportsOptions offers a Public Betting Percentage column on their service.
G&J Live Odds
G&J Live Odds offers Public Betting Percentages which can be added in the Casino Settings menu. Betting Percentages show you the public picks for both the side and total of a game. These feeds are supplied directly from the sportsbooks
User Experience and Program Interface
SportsOptions
SportsOptions has a very clean look and feel as far as navigating goes. The odds themselves are a bit hard to read, with gridlines and harsh colors. One major drawback is that the software was written in JAVA and can completely lock up computer systems. Their solution for this is a seemingly rigged, "Release Memory" menu option, but I am not sure if it works. The screen also has flicker issues and can reset its row position randomly. SportsOptions ranks among the slowest when it comes to navigation and responsiveness and there are a few more minor complaints about the user interface, but we won't list them all. We will end off saying that this new product has a ways to go in terms of ease of use.
G&J Live Odds
G&J Live Odds is very similar to the look and feel of Don Best. Because it was built using the newest technology, it may be a bit "brighter" and have quicker response times for normal tasks.
Final Thoughts
SportsOptions is still very new and has a ways to go. They have a lot of promise, but need to focus more on the core components (Live Odds, Ease Of Use) and less on the bells and whistles. SportsOptions is slightly more expensive than G&J Update at $300/mo, but until the speed and accuracy of lines, and user interface issues are resolved we cannot justify the price tag.
